How to Register and Log In on Your State e-District Portal
A complete registration guide for e-District portals. Learn how to verify your mobile number and create a citizen profile.
To use e-District services—such as applying for an income certificate or tracking your application—you must register and create a citizen account on the portal of the state where you reside. Because these state platforms handle legal documents, creating an account requires mobile verification. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the registration and login process.
Important Note on State Portals
There is no single national login for all e-District services. You must register on your specific state's platform. For example, if you reside in West Bengal, you must register on the West Bengal e-District portal (edistrict.wb.gov.in). Creating an account on the UP e-District portal will not allow you to apply for services in other states.
Step-by-Step Registration Guide
Find your state's portal and follow these steps to register:
Step 1: Locate the Registration Form
Go to the homepage of your state's official e-District portal. Look for a link labeled **"Citizen Login"**, **"New Registration"**, or **"Citizen Registration"** and click it to open the registration wizard.
Step 2: Enter Personal Profile Details
Fill out the forms with your legal name, gender, birth date, and residential address. The spelling of your name must match your Aadhaar card or voter ID. Mismatches can cause issues later during the certificate verification phase.
Step 3: Verify Your Mobile Number (OTP)
Input your active mobile number. The system will send a 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS. Enter this code on the portal verification screen within the 2-minute time limit to confirm ownership of the number.
Step 4: Create a Username and Password
Create a unique username and a secure password. Your password should contain letters, numbers, and symbols. Some state portals will also require you to select security questions to assist with future password recovery.
Step 5: Login and Access Your Dashboard
Once registered, return to the login page. Enter your new username, password, and the CAPTCHA code shown on the screen to open your citizen dashboard.
Troubleshooting Common Registration Issues
If the portal says "Username Already Exists", choose a different username by adding numbers or initials. If you do not receive the SMS OTP, ensure your phone signal is stable and that your number is not registered under DND settings.
