How to Fix e-District Login and Missing OTP Errors

Encountering technical difficulties on the e-District portal? Learn how to fix login, password, and SMS OTP errors.

Because edistrict portal platforms handle legal civil documents, they implement strict security measures to protect user data. However, these measures can sometimes lead to technical issues, such as login errors, password mismatches, or missing OTP SMS codes. This troubleshooting guide provides clear steps to resolve these common portal problems.

Common Portal Issues and Solutions

1. One-Time Password (OTP) Not Arriving

The portal requires an SMS verification code during registration or login, but the SMS does not arrive. How to fix: Ensure your phone has stable signal reception. If you recently ported your number to a different mobile provider, the delivery of automated transactional SMS codes can be delayed for a few days. Under Trai regulations in India, make sure your mobile plan is active and can receive standard SMS. Avoid requesting multiple OTPs in rapid succession, as this can temporarily block your number.

2. "Invalid Username or Password" Error

You cannot log in even though you are certain your password is correct. How to fix: The portals are case-sensitive. Verify that your Caps Lock key is off. If the issue persists, use the "Forgot Password" or "Reset Password" link on the login page. You will need to enter your registered username and mobile number to receive a reset code via email or SMS.

3. "Session Expired" or Page Crashing

The portal logs you out or shows an error screen while you are in the middle of uploading documents. How to fix: e-District portals implement short session timeout limits (often 10–15 minutes) to protect accounts. Prepare and rename your document files (under 100KB–200KB) before logging in so you can upload them quickly and submit the form before the session expires. Clearing your browser cache or using a private browsing window can also help resolve page crashes.

4. "Verification Code / CAPTCHA Mismatch"

The portal rejects your login, claiming the entered security code does not match the image. How to fix: CAPTCHA codes are case-sensitive. If the image is unclear, click the "Refresh" or "Reload" icon next to the CAPTCHA image to load a new code before typing.
